5 feb 2008. obama vs. clinton.

I’ve been particularly antsy about this primary. Watching CNN is like binge eating those cheddar goldfish snacks. Started off as a healthy snack, now my pee is bright orange.

You’ve heard it before but I’ll repeat it as plain as possible… from my completely biased opinion.

I feel Obama is the best choice. Obama can beat John McCain (or whichever one of those farts gets the gop-nod). I have no beef or particularly ill feeling towards Hillary Clinton and of course I’m thrilled to finally see a woman in the running. The name Clinton is nostalgic of better times. I voted for her for Senator and if she were pinned against a lesser candidate I’d be all hers. Problem is the Republicans want her, they can’t talk about her enough… to put it plain, they know how to beat her come the general election. They don’t know what the fuck to do about Obama, they know they could easily lose to him, especially with the sort of momentum he’s been building. Her pussyfooting about the war in the beginning will be an issue and the Democratic Party might lose over it. If Obama gets the nomination, he’ll get the general election, he’ll make positive changes without the same sort of old money interest as the Clintons have and will naturally continue to embrace. Not to hate on the Clintons, I've always loved cool uncle Bill. He spoke at my college graduation and I was geeked to shake his hand when he spoke at a Hillary foundation event at crobar. The way he's been running is mouth lately, though, is also discouraging.

Obama is the grassroots-in-a-suit man we’ve been waiting for, seriously! This cat is solid! Lately, the game they spit is similar. Both candidates want many of the same policy changes overall, some differences in how it’ll be executed, but the end thoughts more or less match. It really is a competition of character. Difference to me is when Obama speaks, I believe him. When Clinton says it, I think, “That would be nice, if that would actually happen.” I want to believe it, but I don't quite. I’m routing for it but I don’t expect her to necessarily come through, like how I feel when most any politician speaks. She is the more “seasoned” politician, we can all agree with that. Obama’s lack of experience could be considered his greatest weakness, but I feel it will get to a point where experience could be considered a real negative in this dirty battle ahead, should Clinton carry the torch against these greasy, flaccid Republicans. (yeah that's right, i said flaccid).

It sounds cliché, absolutely, but I have to say it: Obama represents the people. He will be the start of some real change, here and abroad, and has the character to carry it. This current administration has fucked us and continues to fuck us without consent. There’s no way we can let these transparent Republican candidates carry on this 8-year heist. We are tapped the F out. Democrats, vote Obama.

Glad I got that out of my system. Thanks for listening. Rock steady rock. -Julia
